I started my drilling career working on the surface with a company called Western Deep Hole at Black Swan back in 1996. Here deep directional holes were drilled, and various core sizes were utilised. I ventured underground from there and I am still working in the underground diamond drilling industry today.
Throughout my career in the drilling industry I have worked at a wide variety of mine sites and various commodities. Experiencing very challenging drilling conditions and different ground types from within Australia to North America and Europe. This experience has allowed me to gain a considerable amount of knowledge and experience that I have put to good use in providing the first-class quality service to Webdrill’s clients.
I am passionate about underground diamond drilling and my drive to continuously improve the set ways of the past has resulted in the creation of Webdrill.
With over 12 years of experience in Business Development & Customer Service it’s nice to have a change in industries and delve into the Underground Mining sector.
I work meticulously behind the scenes with our administration team and long-standing suppliers to ensure Webdrill runs smoothly and efficiently. It’s a great industry to work in and I’m enjoying being a part of Webdrill’s growth and development.
The beginning of my purchasing career started within the mining industry dealing with UG ventilation ducting and then onto a surface drilling company. I then moved to a well-known WA based Underground Diamond drilling company where I spent nearly 10 years in purchasing and sourcing specialist parts. Although mining has been prominent in my working career I have also experienced positions of employment in sales for companies dealing with hard metals , fabrications and bearings.
I am very excited to be back in the underground diamond drilling industry and thrilled to be a part of the professional hard working team here at Webdrill , a company on the move!
I started in the industry in early 2003. I have worked throughout Western Australia and overseas in Portugal’s Neves Corvo mine. Over the course of my career I have been fortunate to have spent most of my time at mines with very challenging ground conditions and undertaking various technical drilling operations not normally encountered in the underground drilling industry. I have experience in all current underground diamond drilling applications.
Spending almost 10 years at BHP’s Leinster Nickel Operation and a couple of years at Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond mine among other mines has given me a wealth of knowledge of all ground types and drilling techniques and presented many challenges along the way. Whether it be grouting and advance techniques through pressurised shears, wedging, drilling in gaseous environments or aquifers to training a 60-man crew of Portuguese nationals to also develop these skills and experience from scratch.
My experience in underground diamond drilling has always been challenging and interesting.
In 2006 I was introduced to the drilling industry following on from previous labouring jobs including brick laying and professional cray fishing. During my career In the drilling industry I have been lucky to work at several sites throughout the goldfields region and across Australia including Tasmania. Learning to drill through difficult ground conditions and deep holes at Mitel and Mariners before moving onto Gwalia where I gained several years experience drilling through old workings including backfill whilst also completing high risk drilling programs through high pressure water to dewater the mines historical workings. In the 12 years I have enjoyed roles of driller, supervisor and senior manager, I am a highly experienced driller/ supervisor with an extensive knowledge of all aspects of operations, I pride myself on always building on client relations and working as one team to achieve our common goals, ensuring quality of samples provided is of the highest standard and safe productivity is ingrained in the teams culture.
I started in the drilling industry in 2008. I’m a highly motivated, enthusiastic and multi skilled Driller experienced in most underground diamond drilling applications. I have been lucky enough to have worked throughout Australia and overseas as a trainer/leading hand, assisting in developing the skills of an inexperienced Portuguese drilling crew. I enjoy the challenge of being sent to different sites where there are challenging ground conditions and continually developing my skills.
My drilling career commenced in the year 2000 when I worked on surface rigs; then in the year 2003 I made the transition to underground drilling, where I have worked for the last 14 years. During my 17 years in the industry, I have had the opportunity to work alongside some of Australia’s most experienced drillers. I have worked on many types of rigs and experienced their capabilities. I have drilled all ground types from cream ground, clays, gas, sands, and pressurised shears, to drilling horizontally into a block cave mine.
I have drilled extensively throughout Western Australia, from IGO’s Long Shaft Mine & Nova Nickel Mine, to Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine; including the difficult ground conditions in Nevada, USA; and freezing weather in Alaska, USA.
I am proud to be part of the knowledgeable and experienced Webdrill team. I am passionate about safety, efficiency, and upskilling the next generation of drillers.
